A great game. Not for slouches!

Posted : 16 years, 4 months ago on 12 December 2007 05:07 (A review of God Hand)

This game is perhaps the funnest, most raunchy game I've played in years.

It's also one of the hardest.

Clover Studio's last work, God Hand is not exactly what I'd call perfection. The graphics aren't the smoothest and the different enemies count out at about 7 different ones, not mentioned costume changes/recolors. However, the fighting system, the bosses, the humor and the sheer difficulty push this to the top.

The fighting system is easy to explain. Take a 3d fighter and insert hand to hand moves. A completely customizable move set force you to use your own, unique, moveset instead of a few simple combos. There's over 120 different moves, from the Drunken Fist to simple moves such as Right Jab. Each move has it's strength and weaknesses, having attributes like Guard Break, Knock Down and Tension Up that fighter fans will recongize.

The bosses are simply amazing. Hard, random and fun. The plot...is there simply to introduce them, I think. A giant demon that reminds me of Diablo, Demon Mexican Elvis, the Midget Rangers, Shannon the Dominatrix, an old fake American samurai complete with cheesy music...random and fun.

Did I say hard? Yes. It's insanely hard. So hard that players trying to play Hard mode on God Hand are recommended to do a SS Rank run on DMD mode in Devil May Cry 3. However, playing God Hand, at least on Normal and above, will allow you to never, ever, ever get hit again in a hack and slash. (Okay, I lie, but it makes it a a lot easier to dodge.)

Weapons are limited to your fists, Roulette Wheel, Godhand mode and whatever you can pick up. Special commands like "Spanking", "Stinger" and "Suplex" comes up under certain conditions.

The game is pretty funny. I'm sure you're thinking "Spanking? WTF!? Demon Elvis? What!?".

I won't explain. Enjoy it yourself.

Available for a cheap 20$ whenever you want it!
